Lubrication under extreme conditions

Lubrication under extreme conditions refers to applications involving high/low temperatures, very high loads, contact with water/chemicals, high speeds, vacuum or heavy contamination. Here, suitable base oils (e.g. PAO, ester, PFPE, silicone), additives (AW/EP, corrosion protection, solid lubricants such as MoS₂/graphite/PTFE) and suitable thickeners for greases. Sealing concepts, dosing and relubrication strategies must be adapted; flushing relubrication, special seals, filtration and temperature management often help.

First, material and media compatibility, start-up behaviour and emergency running properties must be checked. Condition monitoring (temperature, vibration, analysis) detects limit values at an early stage. The result is reliable operation, extended service life and reduced risks – even in demanding environments.
