Nozzle angle

The nozzle angle describes the opening angle of a spray jet and thus the area coverage at a defined distance. A larger angle covers a wider area but reduces the impact energy per surface area; a smaller angle concentrates the spray and improves penetration. The selection depends on the viscosity of the medium, the desired droplet size range, the distance to the surface, the travel speed and the permissible overspray. In practice, nozzle angles are coordinated with flow rate, pressure and nozzle shape (e.g. flat, round, hollow cone). The aim is to achieve uniform wetting without droplet formation or mist. Regular checks for wear, clogging and alignment maintain quality. Documented setups facilitate reproducibility, energy efficiency and clean process handover between shifts.
